KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.13 g, 12 h), Priene, circa 280-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on throne with high back, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, trident head above ΠΡΙ/BI. Price 2234A. Regling -. Very rare. Minor marks and the obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.

From the Anatolian Viking Collection, ex Oslo Myntgalleri 47, 25 November 2023, 1617 and previously privately acquired from Myntgalleriet AS in Oslo in 1995 (with dealer's ticket).
